Susan Cook Smith / Dearon Smith Family

Dearon and Susan have been married now for nearly 17 years. We live with 5 of our 6 children, in Wake Forest, North Carolina, a northern suburb of Raleigh.  Brittni, 18 lives in Raleigh, while Michael (15), William (13), Kathryn (10), Bailey (8), and Emma (17 months) live at home with us. 

A lot has changed for us in the past 3 years. We were blessed with the adoption of Brittni, Michael and William in December of 2009 and the very next month baby Emma made her way into this world!

As a family we love to travel to the Cape every summer to spend time with Reuben and Nancy Cook and also to Orlando Florida for an annual excursion to Walt Disney World.

We are also very active in our church with every member of the family playing some sort of role, more on that later...we are also in the planning stages of possibly building a home on the Cape...

Dearon:

Still works in TV news at the local ABC affiliate as a video editor and photograher.  He is also a very active advisor/mentor for the High School Youth program at church.  He just recently returned from a week long retreat with 41 high schoolers in the mountains of NC at Montreat College and Conference Center.

Susan:

 

Stay at home mom and homeschooler to the 4 older kids.  In her spare time...oh wait never mind, what spare time!!!  She is an active participant in the women's bible study programs at church and is the rock that holds this family together!--from Dearon!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Brittni---Lives in Raleigh and is working in daycare and attending Wake Tech Community College finishing her high school education.

 

 

 

 

Michael--Just received his learners permit and is enjoying driving whenever mom and dad will let him!  He also enjoys the youth program at church and is looking forward to moving up to the high school program with dad.  Michael is currently taking piano lessons and is part of the youth choir at church.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

William--will be in 8th grade this year and loves to work with his hands.  He is currently being "molded" by a dear friend who owns his own landscaping company to learn the business.  Our yard looks amazing thanks to his handiwork!  Will also likes to fish and is active in the middle school program at church.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kathryn---About to enter Middle School!  Where has the time gone?  Katie loves to read and read and read and she writes original stories too. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bailey---Will be in the 3rd grade and loves to sing and dance and is about to start guitar lessons very soon, which is something she has wanted to do for quite some time.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Emma---just loves to be the center of attention and knows that at this point in her life if she wants something, she knows how to get it!
